Does anyone remember the name of the guy, Bill something or other, who did the ads for Meteor on the Ed Sullivan Show?
Art Hannes was the announcer on the Ed Sullivan Show until 1970. Mercury had an advertising relationship with Ed Sullivan from 1948 to 1962. I recall Ed himself doing most of the voice-overs. Meteor was sold only in Canada, so I doubt it did any advertising on the show unless a dealer picked up a local slot.
my father has 6 meteor convertible’s
Hi Dan, WOW a Meteor specialist! Send along some pictures and I’ll publish them. Regards, Bill
This truly inspires me. I simply wish I could be able to write as
passionately as you do.
Here is my blog post … auto buyers (http://bestsellingaudis.wordpress.com/)
You are very kind. Thank you.
If anyone is interested, I just got one from my dad and I’ll be selling it.

Hello, would like to see more pics of the ’59 Monarch Sceptre – I’ve got some trim parts for the 4-dr ht – I’m still toying with the idea of converting my Parklane 4-dr ht to look like a Sceptre – not sure if I’ll do that or not. Yours is a really nice looking car!
Hi Ken, Thanks for your kind remarks! I will post more pictures this summer when I can get her out and cleaned up. Converting a Park Lane to a Sceptre is basically a matter of trim pieces, hub caps, steering wheel hub and so on. as you point out. The largest is of course the grille and the hardest to find are probably the fender scripts and gunsite ornaments. There seem to be a few parts cars here in Western Canada, but all are Lucernes it seems. Good luck!
Do you still have the car and would you considering selling it. My father turned 75 this year and he owned one in 1957.
Thanks
Scott
Hi Scott, My best wishes to your dad. We found this car sitting in a pasture north of Edmonton. The engine had been removed and the bottom third of the body was rusted away, so the car had to be completely rebuilt. I’m still pretty attached so have no plans to sell.
The 1956 and1957 Meteor is one of the nicest car styles ever made.A Canadian design triumph. This ’57 convertible is a beauty.Lucky owner.
I have a ’57 Rideau 500 4 dr Victoria acquired from British Columbia and I love it.
